Once again we have a great group of parent volunteers, their help is indespensible. I am truly grateful for their support. Honestly, we couldn't do it without them.
And of course, the reason we are here, the students. They are checking out books and reading up a storm! Kindergarteners are learning the ins and outs of being a good library user. First graders enjoyed a Mo Willems author study. In second grade, we finished a unit of Non-Fiction text features and will be exploring Visual Litearcy when we get back in January. Genre and learning how to use the library computer (OPAC) was the focus this fall for 3rd grades. Early in October, 4th grade began their Social Studies unit Does It Matter Where You Live?, with a thoughtful discussion in the library. We also had a lively discussion evaluating web pages, the students learned that "just because it's out there, doesn't make it good!" In 5th grade, we are focusing on Digital Citzenship, with lessons on Copyright, Digital Footprint and Social Media. Phew! It's a lot, going on and a lot of fun!
